Mind Express 5 supports the Tobii Series 5 (IS5, PCEye 5, …) and Tobii Series 4 (IS4, PCEye mini, PCEye plus, …). Below is a little more explanation of some configurations and potential problems.
Tellus 6 with Tobii eye tracking
In our Tellus 6 there is a Tobii IS5 eye tracker built in. This is prepared, configured and tested by us beforehand. So you just have to start Mind Express 5 and you can start using eye gaze.
Attention: Tellus 6 is not compatible with Tobii Dynavox PCEye Software such as “Computer Control”. A conflict arises
- with Mind Express 5 on the connection and control of the camera and the calibration, and
- with the Tellus 6 about controlling the camera.
This may cause eye tracking to stop working properly inside or outside Mind Express 5.
Tobii Dynavox PCEye 5
This eye gaze camera is available separately and can be used in Mind Express 5. To connect the camera, you must first install the corresponding software. You can find this in the package you bought or on this webpage of Tobii Dynavox (Downloadlink “PCEye 5 Bundle Installer”).
As with the Tellus 6, the simultaneous use of Mind Express 5 eye tracking and Tobii communication software such as “Computer Control” and “Communicator” is strongly discouraged, but in this case it is possible.
If you wish to use the Tobii communication software (e.g. Computer Control, Communicator, Snap Core …), turn off the Mind Express 5 eye tracking and use mouse mode. If you want to continue using eye gaze in Mind Express 5 later, turn off the Tobii software first and recalibrate in Mind Express 5.
Mind Express 5 on a Tobii I13 or I16 Device
Mind Express 5 eye tracking works without additional installations or settings on these devices. We strongly advise against using Mind Express 5 eye tracking and Tobii communication software such as Computer Control and Communicator at the same time, but in this case it is possible.
Tellus 5 with Tobii eye tracking
Our Tellus (i)5 devices with Tobii eye tracking have a built-in Tobii PCEye Mini. They are fully prepared, configured and tested just like the Tellus 6. So you can start eye tracking right away.
On the Tellus 5 the Tobii Dynavox software package “PCEye Suite” is installed for connection and access. However, this package also includes Tobii software control, which as with the PCEye 5, is not compatible with Mind Express 5 eye tracking.
If you wish to use Tobii ccommunication software (e.g. Computer Control, Communicator, Snap Core …), turn off the Mind Express 5 eye tracking and use mouse mode. If you want to continue using eye tracking in Mind Express 5, turn off the Tobii software first and recalibrate in Mind Express 5.
